This weekend, the Overland Park Convention Center hosted the Royals Fan Fest. With just about 25 days remaining before the good guys and the rest of the league heads for Spring Training it was a good opportunity in the middle of a frigid Kansas winter to be reminded of the good times that await during the summer in Kansas City.
Upon entering Fan Fest, I found 610 Sports personality, Chris Hamblin taking some swings in the batting cage. Above left is Hamblin's "Trading Card Picture." Obviously it is a definite collectible and should be a part of every child's collection and every 23-27 Female's collection.
However, if you were looking for girls in that age bracket you were pretty much SOL. There were some girls from Hooters walking around, but nothing that was too interesting. Props should be given to the local Dodge dealer, they had a very cute girl that was showing people a new Dodge minivan.
I also got a chance to see Trey Hillman speak. Trey is sporting a new "handlebar goatee" as well as a partial mullet kind of thing. Some of the players were also there, Gordon, Butler, Grud, DeJesus; the real good guys that make up the organization.
The Royals Convention as I like to call it was a great event with some great stuff to do for the family. Parking could have been better but I would like to see this event grow in the years to come!
