Rocky Top Quick Hits

A few thoughts following the game

-Best Darrin Horn Moment: Twice with less than three minutes to go, Horn turned around to the WKU crowd and told them to get up and get loud. Usually Horn gives his customary wave to the students on his way out, what folks saw Saturday night is rare.

-WKU Fans should pass this note along: The 4,000-6,000 that were in attendance supporting WKU needs to pass the memo along about just how exciting the game was. They were loud from the start and Horn called it the best college atmosphere of the day on Saturday.  They need a way to transfer that energy into Diddle, some nights that place is lacking a little electricity.

-Unexpected sight: I'm used to traveling for Nebraska games and when you go somewhere you're always bound to see red. Saturday night I walked into Rippy's across the street from the Arena I had a WKU moment I hadn't experienced, and that is seeing a lot of spirit out and about. There was red all over the place, people were handing out red towels and it really got you going for the game.

-Nothing cloudy about Sun Belt Classic: This event has to continue in some capacity. Not necessarily with the same four teams, but WKU has to find a way to put a game in Nashville every year and Darrin Horn is all for that. People don't want to come to Diddle, and people really don't want to go to what has the potential to turn into Diddle South. It has to be a top-15 opponent and nothing less, this was a great treat for the fans.

-March Simulation- I have never been to an NCAA Tournament game, but from what I have seen on TV Saturday night was pretty close. Sold out crowd, electric atmosphere, mid-major looking to upset a quality opponent on a national stage. Even I felt it was a bit like a tournament, the atmosphere in the Press workroom following the game felt very postseason-ish.
