Respect for the "K"

-I always enjoy reading about ballparks, they fascinate me. So when Sports Illustrated released their fan rankings of the 30 MLB stadiums I was in heaven.

-Kauffman Stadium ranked 12th, proving that the baseball cathedral of the city of fountains in one of the more underrated parks in the bigs. And for good reason. I would like to get somewhat nostalgic with things about Kauffman Stadium and those who have been there for years can remember the good ole days with me.

-Start with the astro-turf days. The place would be sweltering by August, and usually the Royals would be out of contention.

-What about the old fan zone, you could go practice your grip on baseballs, try to emulate what Monty was going to throw when he came in in the 9th. And you could feel what the field felt life, and try to rob home runs up against a mock outfield wall.

-Then came the days of Gates in the stadium and Pyramid Pizza, both have become modern staples. Sure the concourses are narrow, but the sightlines are damn good no matter where you are in the stadium

-Kauffman is so high on that list because of the affordability. Not many places you can go to a game on a ten-dollar bill. (See Buck Nights) Five dollars to get in, and then five to spend on hot dogs, peanuts and Pepsis.

-My Kauffman Stadium memories are abundant. What I really want to add to those memories is to be an attendance at a playoff game.
