It's Derby Time Boys

Grab your hat, your mint julep and your cash and let's head to the downs. Nothing says the first week in May in Kentucky like the Derby.

I'm still somewhat of a rookie to all the Derby stuff. It is much different being in the state than being in Kansas. The buzz is incredible. I've never seen two-minutes have so much ceremony and partying associated with it.

I won't be at the Derby tomorrow, I won't be betting on Big Brown or whoever the front-runner is. I won't be sipping on Mint Juleps either.

I may hum along to "My Old Kentucky Home," however, it really isn't my home.

Nonetheless, even down in Bowling Green, I feel the grass is greener and the sun is brighter this time of year. You can tell you're on the brink of something special, something packed with plenty of pageantry.

What takes place in Louisville this weekend is beyond a spectacle, in fact the only event I can think of that has this much pageantry and tradition with it is the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.

The Derby also marks the fact that the end of school is near and therefore I need to start Studying. I'll update throughout finals week.
